Every year I look forward to Summer because I feel that I do the most 'changing' during that season. I've noticed that in the last 5 years each year has been a significant Summer, each with its own soundtrack, scent and of course a completely different look.

I was introduced to my first love in the Summer of 2005. I would listen to him play guitar for hours; he would get me from work and take me to hipster coffee houses in the city while my parents thought I was with my friends from work.
My first Summer away from home, I stayed in the collegiate part of the city in a sweaty apartment, dyed my hair black and bought my first pair of skinny jeans. I worked at Forever 21 and learned how to make a whole wardrobe off of basics - basics we would get 50% off of clearance price for...YAY,
One Summer I listened to
Tommy Gurerro's Return of the Bastard everyday and worked as a cocktail waitress at a ceviche and tapas lounge - they actually had an all black dress code too! We had to wear our hair up so this was the only time I ever experimented with earrings. This was a crazy Summer!!
Last Summer, I was getting over a really dramatic breakup and moved to a quieter but more classy part of town, I began working at the museum and thus began my ABW craze. During this time my friend Justin gave me a vintage copy of
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde; I became obsessed with it! I loved the humor, the lavish settings of velvety lounges and heavy silk tapestries, how graceful and intelligent the speech was, the mere truth of it all...it's a beautiful story and I highly recommend it.
This Summer has just begun and its probably my busiest Summer so far, which hopefully will lead to a fruitful and productive Fall. I have applied for a promotion at the museum and am anticipating an interview in the near future! I feel a coming of age arriving in my sense of style, I feel more knowledgeable of my environment and a need to be more professional, classic and above all, individual.
Here is my Summer Wishlist:
1 - A Hair Change: As stated in the previous blog, I have been toiling with the idea of either chopping my past-shoulders hair to a sassy long bob or happy-go-lucky highlights to celebrate the summer
2 - A romantic Summer dress: Like the one Carrie Bradshaw wore when she fell in the lake with big. It's so romantic, so simple, and so French!
3 - Neutrals: Though black is the color that I will forever be loyal too, I do like the look of a neutral palate. There's sophistication, a kind of crisp minimalism that goes along with neutral wear.

4 - Gorgeous Sandals: The strappier the better for me! I'm open for anything when it comes to sandals -they're a great way to pull together, a pale Summer wardrobe.

5 - A Summer Hat: As a big believer in practicing safe sun, I believe hats are a chic and edgy way to protect yourself- add big sunglasses and it's movie star glam!!

I love this boho look! |
6 - The Perfect Shade of Lipstick : I love how classic lipstick is. Putting it on makes you feel like an instant diva. I have full lips and often I end up buying shades that make my mouth look muddy. I am on the hunt for the perfect lip shade..
 |
Red Lips at Dolce & Gabanna: I love how classic and sexy red lips are - they are the LBD of make up. Especially in the summer, I think it would be really hot to wear jeans and a white tee allowing the focus to be perfectly pouted red lips. |
I love
Berry Stained Lips; they make a statement but yet its a casual way to wear red. It's so modern and very chic when paired with clean skin and minimal eye makeup.
 |
Coral Lips are so cool and I think brunettes wear them well. It adds a youthful glow by adding a pop of color to your face. |

7. Something for Mingling and Cocktails - As this is foreseen to be a year of sophistication so comes a schedule hopefully filled with cocktail socials, galas, and outings. These should be pieces that can easily be converted to Fall/Winter with a simple blazer or faux fur coat.

The palate on this Gucci look is eclectic and very sophisticated. | |

Great LBD by Versace - worn by the great Freja Beha Erickson |

8. Skinny Cargos - These can easily become a part of my wardrobe for rainy days paired with flats or sky high heels for an urban safari look!
9. Crocheted Pieces - Mainly inspired by
Emilio Pucci's crocheted pieces in his recent Spring collection, crocheted pieces add a bit of a homemade bohemian twist. My granny is an
excellent crocheter; Each Winter I look forward to her crocheted pieces tightly knitted with perfection and love (last year I asked for a solid black scarf - go figure -it kept me warm and chic all winter and is now my favorite scarf). It's nice to see crochet crossing over into Summer wardrobes...

10. A Great Bathing Suit - This Summer, my roommate's Dad has offered his cabin by the lake to us for a weekend, as well as my boyfriend's Dad has offered his pontoon for a night! There is a lot of swimming, sun bathing, out door water fun in my future. I want something durable enough to play in yet chic, and won't give me weird tan lines...
